[Character name] Chie Satonaka
[Age] 17
[Canon] Persona 4
[Point in time taken from canon] Between the end of Persona 4 and the start of P4 Arena.
[Background]
WA-TAAAAH
[Personality]
Chie's personality on the whole is very cheerful, confident, and upbeat. She's almost always a voice of encouragement and motivation among her friends in the Investigation Team, making sure they don't give up at critical junctures or coming out with suggestions or theories on what's going on to keep everyone on track. These theories are often off-base and the result of wild guesses, but the important part is that she likes to keep things moving. This dedication also manifests itself in her martial arts training schedule, as Chie practices her skills almost every day to improve herself both as a person and as a member of the team.
Chie can be something of a tomboy sometimes, what with her extreme love of kung-fu movies, steak bowls, and the like, but she's also got a softer side that tends to come out when she's in more intimate one-on-one situations with her friends. She's even a little insecure about not being more obviously girly, and is sometimes prone to getting jealous of Yukiko and Rise's greater popularity with the boys in their class. This can be seen during the confrontation with Chie's Shadow, where we learn that at least a small part of Chie was staying friends with Yukiko because she enjoyed being relied upon by someone she admired so much. On the other hand, Chie also has a famously short temper, often becoming angry enough to bring things to physical blows (especially with Yosuke).
Despite Chie's outward confidence and energy, her insecurity does trend even deeper than these concerns, as she spends most of her Social Link worrying about how she compares to the rest of the group as a whole. She has a hard time defining a unique role and place for herself both in the investigation team and in the world at large, and tends to feel that her friends are more impressive and interesting people than she could ever hope to be. By the end of her Social Link, she still hasn't entirely figured it out, but has resolved to continue doing the best she can anyway, and decides to train to become a police officer so she can put the one talent she does feel she has to good use in protecting others.
[Abilities]
Chie's main supernatural power is that of her Persona, a projection of her inner soul. Chie's Persona is Suzuka Gongen, obtained after reaching her max Social Link with the main character. Here is a handy dandy link to its abilities: TRIAL OF THE DRAGONNNN. She also has an ability called Galactic Punt, which enables her to kick an enemy so hard as to send them flying off into the distance.

[Sample post]
[First Person]
- What do you think of your home world?
It's a really small town, and it can be pretty boring, but there's really nowhere else I'd want to live. I was born and grew up in Inaba, and I've made so many friends and memories there that I couldn't even imagine what it'd be like to go somewhere else.
- If someone provoked or attacked you, what would you do?
I'd make them think twice about messing with me again! They'd have so many footprints on their face by the time I was through with them! Wa-taaaah!
- If I offered to save your soul for a price, would you go with it and why?
Save it from what? I'm pretty sure I already saved it myself when I accepted my Shadow and gained the power of Persona. That's what that whole thing was about, right? Accepting my weaknesses and saving my own soul?
- Do you stand up against authority, go against all odds, and if you could, pierce the heavens with your fighting spirit? If not, would you if you could?
Oh yeah, for sure! I mean, I've already done stuff like that, and it was awesome!
- You're asked to take someone out for a date. Do you agree? If so, describe what you would do. If not, tell why.
Well, um... I guess it'd depend on who I'm going out with. But I'd probably take them to a kung-fu movie marathon, and then out for a deluxe beef bowl at Aiya. That'd be my ideal date, anyway.
- Murder. What is your opinion?
Murder is wrong, no matter what the reason. Killers and murderers need to be caught and punished for their crimes. Just killing them out of revenge for their victims is just as wrong as what they did in the first place - they should do hard time and think about what they did. Not just to their victims, but to their friends and families too.
- What is more important to you: having friends or living on your own? Why?
Definitely having friends. There's a lot of things I can't do on my own, and that's when I know I can rely on my friends to support me and help me out. Feeling alone is the worst feeling in the world. I can be strong because I have people who are important to me.
- You just got a challenge to fight from one of the strongest gang leaders around. Do you accept or reject? Why?
Why would Kanji challenge me to a fight? Haha, no, I'm just joking around! But if it's a fight they want, I'll be ready for them!
- Do you prefer the city or living out in the country? Why?
I was born and raised out in the country and I've never really been anywhere else, so I guess the country. I kind of like the small-town life, where everybody knows everybody else.
- You are suddenly told you are the child of an ancient prophecy to save the world. How do you feel? Will you embark on your journey? Or would you rather shove it onto someone else and run away? Explain.
I knew it! This is the day I've been training for my whole life! I bet I'm like some kind of secret kung-fu master with endless potential, and I'm supposed to be the one to inherit the lost secrets of the style and defeat the evil master threatening to destroy the world with dark magic, right? That would be so awesome! I'd get to go to China and train on the mountaintops and under waterfalls, honing my body and spirit into the perfect unbeatable fighting machine... [Chie rambles on like this for another ten minutes, haphazardly slamming the plots of a half-dozen martial arts movies into her story.]
- Do you have any future goals or dreams? What are they?
I want to become a police officer so I can help protect the people of Inaba. After everything that just happened there, I think they could probably use all the help they can get.
[Third Person]
"Oh, sheesh!" Chie cried out as her umbrella folded in on itself and blew away in the wind. The rain had been coming down pretty hard all day today, but she just couldn't resist getting in some late night training. Covering her head with her hands, she started running through the street, looking for any place to duck into and wait out the storm. She had always been confident in her speed, but that was little consolation on a night like this, with the rain coming down in sheets.
Up ahead, she spied three buildings: an old shack that was shaking right along with the trees under the strong wind, an abandoned house that looked like something out of a murder mystery movie, and a hotel a few blocks up the street. This was a pretty easy choice for Chie to make, on the whole.
"Well, that first place looks like it'll just collapse on me..." Chie thought out loud as she went tearing past the old shack, which creaked loudly again as if to punctuate her decision to pass it up. "And that old house reminds me way too much of that creepy bedroom in the TV world where we met Adachi," she continued, side-eyeing it suspiciously. "I'm already soaked anyway, so I guess I'll head for the hotel! Feet, don't fail me now!"
Hitting the pavement with renewed resolve, Chie continued on down the street toward the hotel, deciding to just think of this as a different kind of training. She'll worry about drying off and whether she had enough money to get a room for the night once she was actually safely inside, she reasoned. One thing at a time, and roll with the punches: isn't that how the Investigation Team always did things?
[Why do you want to play this character in Somarium?] Because there are a lot of her castmates already present in this game and I've heard it's a pretty fun place to play!
[Which rule was your favorite and why?] Be nice to other players, because I think this is really the cornerstone of a strong roleplaying community and generally the rule that all the others stem from.
[Where did you hear about Somarium?] Word of mouth – my wife was looking at it a while back and several of my friends either play here currently or have in the past.
[Any questions?] Nope!
